Aesthetic Aftercare, Done for You by Clinic Membership

    19 October 2026

Clinic Membership does the first pass of your aftercare for you: when a treatment has none yet, it writes a draft for your team to read, change and save. If you have been hunting for aftercare instructions your aesthetic clinic can adapt to its own way of working, this is the done-for-you route: name the treatment, read what comes back, change what does not fit, and save before anything reaches a patient.

Most clinics know the moment. A new treatment goes on the menu, the training is done, the first patients are booked in, and then someone notices the aftercare box is empty. The patient leaves with a few spoken reminders, or a hurried email typed out at the end of a long day. Neither feels like the clinic you want to be.

Writing aftercare from scratch is the kind of job that slides down the list. It is not hard, exactly. It just needs a quiet half hour that never seems to arrive.

How Clinic Membership writes your first aftercare draft

In Clinic Membership, aftercare is set up per treatment on the service form, in the Aftercare email section. When you create new aftercare content, one of the content types is called Help me write my aftercare. It is there for exactly this situation: a treatment with nothing written yet.

You tell Clinic Membership which treatment the aftercare is for, click Write aftercare, and a draft appears in the box. That draft is general patient advice for that treatment. It is a starting point for you to read and shape, not finished wording to send without a second look.

The full step-by-step guide sits in our Help Centre article, Send aftercare emails, under Help me write my aftercare.

Why a blank aftercare box matters in Clinic Membership

Aftercare is often the last thing a patient hears from you about a visit. It shapes how looked after they feel once they have left the room, and it gives them something to come back to when a question pops up later that evening.

When the box is blank, that moment is lost. A draft changes the job from "write something" to "check something", and checking is far easier to fit between appointments. It also means the patient who comes in during the first week of a new treatment gets the same care as the patient who comes in months later.

Naming the treatment in Clinic Membership

The only thing the draft needs from you is the name of the treatment. In the field that asks what treatment or product the aftercare is for, type the treatment. A general name works.

If you opened the aftercare section from a particular service, Clinic Membership fills in the service name for you, so you can go straight to Write aftercare. If you would rather write aftercare around a specific product you use, you can name the product instead.

Reading and changing the draft in Clinic Membership

This is the step that matters most, and it is yours. Read the draft from top to bottom, as if you were the patient. Then rework any line that differs from the way your clinic actually treats.

Every clinic does things a little differently. You might have your own advice on make-up, exercise or skincare after a visit, your own way of phrasing reassurance, or a particular point you always want patients to remember. Add it. Take out anything you would not say in the room. When it reads like you, click Save.

If the first draft is not a good starting point, click Write again for a fresh version. That replaces the draft in the box, so copy out any lines you want to keep before you do.

The draft is general advice, not clinical guidance written for your clinic. Treat it the way you would treat a colleague's first attempt: useful, but only finished once you have put your name to it.

What the draft in Clinic Membership does and does not include

The draft covers the treatment part of the aftercare email only. You do not need to write a greeting, add your clinic name or repeat the visit details. Clinic Membership adds the greeting, clinic name and visit details when the email is sent.

That keeps the aftercare content short and reusable. The same treatment section can sit inside every aftercare email for that service, while the personal parts change for each patient.

Writing a draft is also only one of the content types. If you already have aftercare elsewhere, you can link to a page on your website, upload a PDF, or paste in your own text instead.

When aftercare reaches patients from Clinic Membership

Saving a draft does not send anything. Nothing is emailed until a visit is marked complete, so you can write, change and rewrite at your own pace without a patient seeing a half-finished version.

How the email itself goes out after a visit is a separate step, which we cover in automatic aftercare emails and review requests. If you are reviewing the rest of your patient messages at the same time, our guide to patient email templates is a good companion.

Your first aftercare in Clinic Membership this week

If you have a treatment with nothing written, you can fix that today:

    1. List the treatments with no aftercare. New additions to the menu are the usual gaps.
    2. Open the first service and go to its Aftercare email section.
    3. Choose Help me write my aftercare and check the treatment name.
    4. Click Write aftercare and read the draft as your patient would.
    5. Rework anything that differs from your own practice, then save.
    6. Ask a colleague to read it too before the first patient has that treatment.

One treatment at a time, the gaps close, and every patient leaves with something in writing.

Clinic Membership brings your patients, calendar, sales and payments together in one place, with aftercare that sits alongside each treatment. Free covers up to 10 patient records. See pricing for paid plans.
